The Boxcars

Attention all lovers of root, Americana, bluegrass & just killer musicianship in general. On Sunday January 8th 2012, I’m proud to present THE BOXCARS, the latest super group out of Nashville Tennessee. THIS WILL BE THEIR ONLY CALIFORNIA APPEARANCE IN 2012!! One night,the Big Room. Why do I call them a super group…glad you asked. In 2011, at the IBMA (the International Bluegrass Music Association, the Oscar‘s of the roots, bluegrass awards) they were nominated in the following categories. Album of the Year, Instrumental group of the Year, Instrumental recorded Performance – Jumpin’ the Track, Gospel recorded performance – In God’s Hands, Fiddle players of the Year - Ron Stewart, Banjo Player of the year – Ron Stewart, Mandolin player of the year – Adam Steffey, Emerging artist of the Year and finally, Entertainer of the Year. I guess that covers that….Along with Adam Steffey and Ron Stewart (both drop dead legends on their respective instruments) the Boxcars feature John R. Bowman on banjo (Allison Krauss & Doyle Lawson), Keith Garrett on Guitar and Harold Nixon on Bass. What a great way to start the New Year.
