Description:

A tribute to Little Walter organized once again by Mark Hummel, one of the finest harp players on the planet. Tthis Tribute to Little Walter will be featuring the finest collection of harp players ever presented on the Big Room stage. Let’s start with Charlie Musselwhite, one of the most recognized names in blues harmonica. Charlie has received several Grammy nominations and won 19 W.C. Handy Awards. Charlie and his band have sold out the room three times by themselves. Next up is Curtis Salgado. Curtis originally gained fame as the main front man, harp players and singer in the Robert Cray Band. He then moved on to front Roomful of Blues. He now fronts his own killer band and in my humble opinion, he is one of the best soul singers performing today…..not to mention an absolute killer harp man. Curtis and his band have sold out the room twice by themselves. Next up is Sugar Ray Norcia, an East Coast monster that I’ve wanted to present for a long time. Over the years he’s performed with Ronnie Earl, Big Walter Horton, Big Joe Turner, Jimmy Rogers, Otis Rush and countless others. This will be his first Big Room appearance. Last but certainly not least,Billy Boy Arnold, a contemporary of James cotton and Jr. Wells who combined with Ellas McDaniel in Chicago in 1955 to create the “Bo Diddley” sound at Chess Records. Billy Boy learned harp at the feet of the legendary John Lee “Sonny Boy” Williamson when Billy was just 12 years old. This show also features a special handpicked backup band with some of the best blues musicians in the USA. Billy Flynn on guitar and harmonica. Bob Welsh on guitar and piano. June Core on drums and RW Grigsby on upright bass. These harp blowouts generally sell-out on the first weekend the tickets become available. Get your tickets early.
