Big Room favorite Roy Rogers & The Delta Rhythm Kings return with talented friend and fiddle master Carlos Reyes to play their blues at full force; little is traditional or laid back about it.
"It's a fasten-your-seat-belts-and-let-it-all-hang-out kind of thing," Rogers told Oregon publication the Mail Tribune. "We rock up the blues and cover a range of songs. I always tell people to bring their dancing shoes because we like to stretch out."
Rogers, Kevin Hayes (drums), and Steve Ehrmann (bass)—a power trio—have played together for years, though they boast other impressive musical stints. Hayes played for nearly 30 years with the Robert Cray Band, while Rogers and Ehrmann were alongside John Lee Hooker in the '80s. Rogers likes to take eclectic modern blues, Americana and roots music to a place that speaks to him, he said in the Mail Tribune interview. The sound is based on Delta blues but explores new territory, forging a link between the ancient language of the Mississippi Delta and modern rock 'n' roll. And, the dance floor is open.
