Helping propel North American Roots music is Birds of Chicago, a duo that’s earned the swoon of The Chicago Tribune, “Achingly gorgeous. Slinky, vulnerable and reverent of the Memphis soul of yore.” JT Nero and Allison Russell first crossed paths through their respective bands (JT and the Clouds and Po’ Girl) and formed an act Americana UK calls “an utterly exceptional talent.” Sink deep into their echoes of mountain gospel, street corner doo-wop, and classic soul.
Opening the evening is Chico’s own The Railflowers, about whom Nat Keefe of Bay Area favorite Hot Buttered Rum gushes, "The Railflowers sing together as only sisters can. Their girl-next-door charm becomes secondary the moment you hear soaring three-part vocals and haunting, ancient-sounding tunes.
